fifty shades of grey: the movie

Fifty Shades of Grey poster

Oh, there are going to be so many disappointed women this weekend.

Not because they didn’t get what they wanted for Valentine’s Day. Or because they don’t even have a Valentine to begin with.

But because 50 Shades of Grey is a total fire extinguisher letdown of a movie. [Read more…]

fifty shades of grey: the magazine?!

Fifty Shades of GreyFor better or worse, I have to admit that I devoured the entire Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy in less than two weeks. I didn’t care that the books aren’t particularly well-written and that author E.L. James tends to favor a dozen or so words which she uses over and over and over again. “fifty shades of grey” book review by sarah fudin

Fifty Shades of GreyUnless you’ve been locked in a dungeon for the past few weeks, you’ve probably heard the hype surrounding Fifty Shades of Grey, the erotic romance novel by British author E.L. James. Notice my use of the term “romance” here. Despite a plot line that includes BDSM and sexual domination, Fifty Shades of Grey is, in its own way, a tale of romance.

Unable to get him off her mind, Ana is dumbfounded when he shows up back in Portland at the hardware store where she works part time. [Read more…]

“fifty shades of grey” author e.l. james says her book is “a tale as old as time” by pamela lear

Fifty Shades of GreyWhen it was announced that E.L. James, the British author whose Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy has become a phenomenon in the U.S., would be in Miami for the first stop on her American book tour, tickets sold out in 15 minutes. My three friends and I were lucky to get them.

E.L. James, whose real name is Erika Leonard, is a British mom of two teenage sons, she’s been married for over 20 years and is a former television production manager.  She looks like she could be one of your dearest friends from way back, bundled up in a comfortable but lumpy old sweater wearing comfortable flats, her long dark hair quickly bound up into a clip for convenience.  She has a twinkle in her eyes when she smiles that seems to say, “Life is just one big, fat, fun hell-of-a-crazy-good time, isn’t it?” [Read more…]
