Thanks to P&G Everyday for sponsoring this post and encouraging healthy habits.
I have always seen Metamucil on the drugstore shelf but never tried it because I assumed it was just intended to help with regularity, which thankfully hasn’t been a problem of mine.
When I was invited to write a sponsored post about this classic daily fiber supplement, I decided to do some research and ask my Facebook friends about their experiences with it.
Wow!
My friends unanimously sang its praises – yes, for keeping them regular* but they had so much more to say about it. Some were thrilled that it made them feel less hungry between meals*.
These are, of course, individual experiences and are not endorsed by the Food and Drug Administration but they had a big impact on me.
I trust my friends.
So I read more about Metamucil and learned that it’s a nutritional fiber supplement meant for everyone over 12 years of age. Thanks to its natural psyllium fiber, it works with your digestive system to help it run smoothly. It traps and removes the waste that weighs you down* so, in just two weeks, you can start to feel lighter.
This was enough to get me to try it.
The fact that it helps maintain healthy blood sugar levels as part of your healthy diet* and helps lower cholesterol† was enough to get my husband to try it.
And the fact that it works with your body to restore regularity* and is the number one doctor-recommended fiber brand was enough to get my mom to try it.
We know it isn’t a substitute for a healthy diet and lifestyle, and that it’s not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease but we’re all for anything that benefits our bodies in any way.
Of course, you should always use the product as directed, including correct dosage and liquid ratio. Stir briskly and drink promptly. Make sure to take Metamucil at least two hours before or after medicines as it may affect their efficacy.
Metamucil has been around since 1934, which says a lot about the product to me.
My husband, my mom and I will all be making Metamucil part of our regular morning routine and will weigh in on our results to let you know what we’re experiencing.
I hope you’ll join us on our wellness journey. Start by joining “Empty Nest, Full Life” on P&G Everyday – it’s free, and it’s filled with exclusive coupons, recipes and tips for your home and health.

†Diets low in saturated fat and cholesterol that include 7 grams of soluble fiber per day from psyllium husk, as in Metamucil, may reduce the risk of heart disease by lowering cholesterol. One serving of Metamucil Powder has at least 2.4 grams of this soluble fiber. Consult a doctor if you are considering use of this product as part of a cholesterol-lowering program.

I have never used Metamucil, but I do regularly use Psyllium husks in low carb baking. It definitely helps fill you up and keep you satisfied until mealtime rolls around again.

I recently started to use Metamucil. I realized that I wasn’t getting the recommended 25grams of fiber a day so I use it as a supplement. Easy!
