i made it into the “blogger idol” top 13!

Lots to feel good about

I donā€™t even know what to say right now other than ā€œthank you.ā€

Thank you to the Blogger Idol judges and to all of you who have been so enthusiastically supportive and have gone out of your way to encourage them to choose me.

I honestly canā€™t tell you how much this means to me.

Midlife at the Oasis is only two months old, and has been such a labor of love. Being included in the company of these dozen bloggers who I respect so highly just proves that women over 40 are starting to be heard.

The icing on the cake is that it was a trio of amazing midlife women who inspired me to audition for the competition in the first place.

Karen Karbo, a champion of kick ass women, asked me to live like Julia Child for a week in celebration of her new book, Julia Child Rules: Lessons on Savoring Life, and I stepped out of my comfort zone in so many ways in order to embrace Juliaā€™s ā€œMake the world your oyster (stew)ā€ philosophy.

Lydia Hirt, who has the wisdom that comes with age even though she hasnā€™t put in the years yet, asked me to face a fear in honor of Patty Chang Ankerā€™s new book, Some Nerve: Lessons Learned While Becoming Brave. Pattyā€™s blog is Facing Forty Upside Down, and itā€™s full of stories of bravery. I decided to throw myself out there and face the possibility of public rejection.

Some Nerve Challenge

Now I face the fear of being the first one eliminated.

Iā€™m hoping you wonā€™t let that happen!

I get my first assignment today, and then Iā€™m off and running. I will write my heart out and try to keep you entertained and inspired. But I will need your help to stay in the game.

Please follow my journey, vote for me and ask your friends to vote, too.

And be very glad you don’t have to hear me sing.

I’m also facing a challenge (video blogging) as per my friend Patty Chang Anker’s new book.: Some Nerve: Lessons Learned While Becoming Brave. . I’m actually so honored to have my full name mentioned in her book. I am also so proud of you for facing your fears. Go get ’em!
