One of the women we’ve always admired most is Jane Goodall, whose landmark study of wild chimpanzees under the mentorship of Dr. Louis Leakey became the foundation of primate research, redefining the relationship between humans and animals.
Goodall’s half-century of groundbreaking work will be celebrated on September 27 with Jane Goodall Live, a live big-screen event in 500 theaters across the country – and we can’t wait to be there! With appearances by Dave Matthews, Charlize Theron, Nancy Cartright and U.S. Astronauts from the International Space Station, this special one-night event will also include the national debut of Jane’s Journey, a documentary featuring Angelina Jolie and Pierce Brosnan.
At a feisty 77 years old, Goodall is one of the most universally respected figures in the world. A PhD, DBE and United Nations Messenger of Peace, she has received more than 40 honorary degrees and more than 100 honors and awards. Her scientific studies with animals are considered to be among the most important of the past 100 years.
“This event will give audiences from coast-to-coast a never-before-seen look into the fascinating life of a woman whose devotion and love for the animal kingdom are something to behold,” said Dan Diamond, senior vice president of NCM Fathom, who is presenting the event with eventsmda. Translation: bring tissues.
