A couple of weeks ago, my good friend – and publicist extraordinaire – Anna Crowe hosted a beautiful Mother’s Day luncheon for local moms in the media in honor of AT&T. It was held at Cusp, one of my favorite restaurants, which overlooks the Pacific from atop the Hotel La Jolla and serves some of the best food in San Diego.
Even better, it gave me a great excuse to spend time with my pals Elin Stebbins Waldal, Ruth Curran and Barbara Feldman because it was, a – ahem – work event.
Now, I’m not going to say that Anna took our age into consideration when planning the activities but our midlife contingent won every single game of Bingo, whooping the young mommy bloggers, who never really had a chance. Elin and I won t-shirts, Barbara won some very cool speakers and Ruth won the Belkin Chef Stand she had her eye on from the beginning.
We learned about some other pretty innovative products from AT&T as well. If we had little kids now, we’d probably be buying the FiLip wearable phone and smart locator or the Amber Alert GPS, both of which help you keep track of your child and, which we agreed, could come in just as handy for teenagers.
We’re also still discussing the benefits of Digital Life, which allows you to basically run your entire household from your computer or mobile device. Never mind just setting the DVR; you can now lock your doors, program your thermostat, control your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors, and even keep an eye on caregivers and workers. It’s actually amazing.
AT&T’s Lindsay Grant shared the company’s powerful campaign, “It Can Wait,” which was designed to stop people from texting while driving. We so support this and hope you’ll share Werner Herzog’s powerful short documentary, From One Second to the Next, below, with everyone in your family.
All in all, we learned a lot during this event, not the least of which is that, if all else fails, we still have a future in Bingo.
Bingo! Have we reached that age? LOL Capabilities like Digital LIfe will be the norm soon….
I love that this event had a lot to say to boomers! It must have been a lot of fun, and I’d love to go to an event where I could play BINGO, be with dear friends and win such great prizes!
AT&T, I’m ready for you to come to New Jersey! I’ll wait for your call…
Love this, Lois.
Bingo can be a lot of fun – good for all you winners!
This was such a great day. Informative and fun, and it’s always fun to win!
LOL! I work for AT&T and I didn’t know they did stuff like this That is pretty cool!
What a fun event! Congrats to my midlife friends on your BINGO winnings. Thank you for sharing the smiles… and the AT&T info!
Yay for the midlife contingent! You ladies rock!
Looks like you had a blast at your Bingo game. Good for you ladies taking all the best prizes–well-deserved.
sounds like you had a fun day!
We grew up on BINGO…I would have been disappointed if you’d let those young whippersnappers beat you! I 19!
