I have lots (ok, that sound you hear is my husband laughing at the glaring understatement of that word) of shoes that look good – really good, mind you — but we’ll admit we’ve been known to wince as we slip our feet into some of those pointy toes and exhale in relief when we toss off the high heels.
Of course, I’m not the only ones who have sacrificed comfort for fashion so, after years of seeing women with serious foot problems caused by to-die-for shoes, orthopedist Taryn Rose literally put her foot down and said “enough!” In 1998, the surgeon-turned-shoemaker founded a luxury line that proved beauty doesn’t have to be painful.
Hand-sewn in Italy from buttery soft leather, these stylish shoes feel as good as they look. Although they’re designed for fit first, they’re not even in the same ballpark as those old-lady orthopedic shoes you may be picturing. These are the shoes that grace the likes of Angelina Jolie and Catherine Zeta-Jones, and they’re on every shoe-a-holic’s wish list.
What makes Taryn the perfect person to create this line is the fact that she loves beautiful shoes. After earning her degree from the University of California Medical School in Los Angeles, she spent 14-hour work days on her feet in designer shoes that left her in pain. By addressing these problems, she has improved the lives of women everywhere.
In addition to her coveted women’s collection, Taryn Rose has added a men’s line as well as the more light-hearted Taryn by Taryn Rose. Both feature her famous state-of-the-art technology and cutting-edge design.
Over the years, Taryn has been honored with a variety of business awards and has been recognized as an outstanding entrepreneur by a number of prestigious organizations. She is very involved in charitable projects, especially for breast cancer research, but her greatest contribution is the comfort she’s given her customers as they go about their everyday lives. Now, that’s a remarkable feat.
