I know. You’re laughing and thinking, “Oh, Lois, you do not. You’re so …”
And, as you’re smiling affectionately, you take a closer look, and stop dead in the middle of your thought.
“Oh, my,” you gasp.
Uh huh.
Somehow, over the past couple of years, I have started to look like a snowman.
My waistline, which always had some definition, has blended into my hips. My chest has blended into my stomach. My chin has blended into my neck.
Everything is round.
If you look at me sideways, I look kind of like an ampersand.
I’m not particularly upset about this. In fact, I find it fascinating.
I certainly wouldn’t trade any of the experiences responsible for this shift – traveling around the world and enjoying good food, writing and connecting with my friends online all day, sitting in movies I get paid to review.
And I know it’s my sparkling personality people are drawn to. (Ha!)
But I don’t want to be roly poly and I don’t want to be shocked by that bulge behind me every time I catch my reflection in a store window.
So, with the help of the nice people at Jenny Craig and Jazzercise, I’m getting ready to embark on a month-long journey to start melting away some of this excess. I’m going to document the process and hope you’ll follow along and cheer me on.
If you need a little encouragement, too, I’ll show you how to join in. Yes, it will involve taking the carrot from my snowman nose and sticking it in my mouth.
The positive effects will snowball.
And, minus the extra rolls, I bet I’ll be an even jollier, happier soul.
You are a sexy snowman!
Looking to forward to seeing how this goes for you.
Love you, Anne! I’ll keep you posted. Oy.
My daughter has been on Jenny Craig for the past 6 weeks and has lost 12 pounds already! I’m sure it will be great for you.
And I think you’re lovely.
Thank you, Sharon! Wow, that’s fantastic and gives me great hope. xo
Wow. Can’t wait to see the results. You are nothing like a snow man btw, ok, maybe the wide smile:)
xo

Ha ha! Big hugs to you, my friend.
Ha! You are the wittiest snowman ever! Can’t wait to see how the Jenny Craig works for you. Good luck!!
Thank you, Lisa! I hope I don’t lose my sense of humor when I can’t eat Sprinkles cupcakes any more!
Your carrot line made me laugh.
Good luck on your new journey!
Thanks, Tracie! To be continued …
You are beautiful — not at all a snowman! Wishing you luck with Jenny. The good news? I have done it twice and it worked very well (and I was never hungry). The bad news? I’ve done it twice. And need to do it again.
You do not need to lose weight, Helene! Thanks for the encouragement and for being such a great friend. xo
You are the most sparkling snowman I’ve ever seen, which means you would melt, which means you’ve melted my heart, which means you are not a snowman, which means….. I am making no sense, or am I?
I’ve been on Weight Watchers a gazillion times, Nutrisystem twice, done Atkins, Flat Belly, well…you get the idea. Never done Jenny Craig. But I need to try something. Hmm.
Wish I was in SD to do it right next to you. But whatever happens, I will love you the same because you are exactly the friend I respect and treasure.
Good luck with it, Lois.
P.S. It took courage to write this post, I am sure. I give you a lot of credit. xo
Thank you and love you, Cathy. You do not need to do any of these things but I wish you were in San Diego with me anyway! xoxo
Excellent post! Funny and informative! Made me laugh. Where DO all those round parts come from?!
LOL
Mary
Thanks so much, Mary! As far as those round parts, well, I think they come from other round things like donuts, cookies …
you are the happiest person I know….always smiling and joyful whenever I run into you (not literally!). It’s what’s on the inside that counts and I’ve had some of the most fun and interesting conversations with you! Don’t let Jenny Craig change that!
You are so sweet, thanks! We need to run into each other more often!
What an awesome attitude! I died at the ampersand comment haha
Good luck to you!

Ha ha! Thanks so much. My goal will be to look a little more exclamation mark-y. Will need all the luck you can send. xo
Hi Lois! I am going to join you with Jenny Craig and zumba. We can do this together.
OMG Really?! I’m so excited! I’m starting Jenny and Jazzercise tomorrow. How about you? Do you want to write about your experience? Want to send pictures? YAY! xo
