I just came back from a press conference for one of my favorite events of the year — San Diego Restaurant Week. This year, it runs from September 21-26, and more than 200 restaurants will be offering three-course prix-fixe dinners for $25, $35 or $45 per person and/or two-course prix-fixe lunch menus for $10, $15 or $20. You can check their website to see which restaurants are participating, check out their menu and make a reservation.

This is the 10th anniversary of the twice-yearly event, and it’s how we’ve discovered some of our favorite restaurants. After today, I have a few I definitely want to try.

Because it’s also Wordless Wednesday, it seemed like the perfect time to share pictures of some of the delicious dishes we were treated to at the press conference.

SDRW - Bleu BohemeThis Tartare de Saumon Fume (House Rum Smoked Salmon) from Bleu Boheme was so amazing, I can’t even describe the different flavors that played in my mouth, from goat cheese to capers to creme fraiche and tobiko caviar. Heaven. Seriously. Heaven.

SDRW - Terra

I could have eaten a plate of these Poke Style Fish Sliders with Sambal Mayo and Pickled Carrot/Daikon from Terra American Bistro – and I plan to at some point. If Michael hadn’t become a vegetarian, I would have found a way to slip a few of these into my bag to take home for him.

SDRW - Wellington

My apologies to The Wellington for not having the official name of this ahi tuna but I had been eyeing it since we walked in and just grabbed it without getting any more information as soon as the plate was put down in front of me. I love ahi tuna and this was absolutely delicious. If you invite me to dinner during Restaurant Week, I promise to print its real name πŸ™‚

SDRW - 100 WinesThe Walnut Crusted Local Catch from 100 Wines Kitchen was so tasty with sauteed arugula, vegetable ratatouille and signature citrus beurre blanc. It was truly a meal in itself.

Although I am totally stuffed now and ready for a nap, I’m already dreaming of Restaurant Week and thankful this event was held on a Wordless Wednesday because I think the only word I was able to moan with each amazing bite was, “Ummmm.”

  1. So much good food – I don’t know where to start. Will definitely take advantage of the great prices to try some new restaurants. Thanks for giving us a sample.

  2. From The Wellington: We thank you so much for your kind words and would love for you to take advantage of Restaurant Week (actually 2 weeks) to try us out. The dish was a seared, hemp heart crusted Big Eye Tuna, on our garden cucumber slaw with a chipotle cream and corn sauce and garnished with “shitake bacon.”
