“the paris key” book review and giveaway!

The Paris Key

If you didn’t get to take the vacation you wanted this summer, don’t worry. The Paris Key will whisk you away to the City of Light – and probably get you booking flights for next year.

Bestselling author Juliet Blackwell has written a compelling page-turner of a novel that makes you feel like a Parisian insider, getting to know the best boulangeries and brasseries in the charming Village Saint-Paul in Le Marais, where I am now seriously considering spending next summer.

In the book, Genevieve Martin decides to return to Paris, the scene of some of her happiest childhood memories, after her marriage falls apart. Her late uncle has left her his locksmithing business, and she must decide whether she is ready to fight the bureaucracy to make a new life for herself, and if she is literally open to discovering the truth about her family.

Of course, locks and keys provide great metaphors for our emotional landscape, and readers will easily relate to Genevieve as she’s confronted with the choice of being imprisoned by her past or setting herself free.

This is a book to be savored over a cafe au lait and a pain au chocolat. Although it’s a fast read, its vivid glimpses into daily Parisian life will stay with you and have you Googling apartments on Airbnb.

I’m giving away a copy of The Paris Key to one lucky Midlife at the Oasis subscriber. (If you’re not a subscriber, first sign up for my weekly newsletter in the right sidebar of this page.) For a chance to win, simply leave a comment below. For a second chance, tweet this:
