If you think you have trouble finding a bra that fits, imagine what the women at homeless facilities have to go through.
Beverly Williams, who volunteers at a shelter in the San Francisco Bay area, saw firsthand the need for bras in all different sizes to fit the many women who requested them. After brainstorming with her friend Eileen Hunter and the director of the facility, Lisa Collins, the trio had a bit of a laugh about how to get women to donate their slightly used bras, coming up with the catchy slogan, “Be a Dear and Donate a Brassiere,” to use in a flier to promote their cause.
Beverly’s daughter took the idea to her MOMS chapter, which sponsored a bra drive and collected 125 bras for the homeless women. Encouraged by the overwhelming response, Eileen decided to start a group on Facebook, helping to spread the word about this important cause.
Join their Facebook group, and if you can Be a Dear and Donate a Brassiere, just email onebraone@gmail.com and request the mailing address.
What an uplifting idea!
